Other organisations and our relationships with them
In addition to UK Power Networks, local authorities may want you to engage with other organisations across the sector.
Other DNOs
Great Britain is covered by six DNOs, if you are working with a local authority who is covered by more than one DNO, you may be asked to engage with them as well.
We collaborate with the other DNO and DSO peers through the Energy Networks Association, and we published this report, which outlines how DNOs can support delivery of local net zero plans. You can find the key contacts at each DNO on the final page.
NESO and RESP
The National Energy System Operator (NESO) is an independent publicly owned corporation responsible for ensuring that supply meets demand in real time for all of Great Britain, balancing the grid.
The Regional Energy Strategic Plans (RESP) are regional divisions under the umbrella of the NESO, responsible for the development of strategic energy plans at a regional level.
We are working with the NESO to share our local insights with them to inform their development of transitional Regional Energy Strategic Plans (tRESP), which will be published in early 2026. tRESP has been designed to shape the upcoming business plans for electricity distribution, running from 2028-2033, as well as to inform the full RESP approach which will be in place from 2027.
You can directly contact RESP via writing to box.resp@neso.energy, or we are happy to facilitate your contact with the team.
Gas Utilities
You can read about gas utilities and our collaboration on our stakeholder page on our website.
